Holy Hand Crafted
My good friend, John (BBBarn), introduced me to EDC. This site resonates with me because I carry a Leatherman with me every day. Now sometimes people make fun of me. Yet most of those folks wind up coming to me when they need something knifed, sawed, screw driven, or plied, so I’m okay with it.
Anyway, EDC showed me a bunch of things but one of them was so bizarre yet amazing, I had to...
Github has hired 26 talented fucking people in the...
UPDATE: As of today, 4/6/11, it’s 27
Every time I go to the Github blog, I see that they hired another fucking talented person. So, I asked myself, “How many fucking people have they hired?” Well, luckily they announce it ever time, and they use the same damn title. So, like any good developer, I wrote a little script to find out how many people they fucking hired.

Facebook Purgatory
I think I’ve coined a new term:
Facebook Purgatory: The place where people stay when I choose to neither accept or ignore their friendship request.
Sorry, I just don’t always know if I want that connection. So, I have like 70 people in my queue of friendship requests. My mood determines if you get in or not. Usually after time I grant friendship.

Top 100 Greatest Movie Characters (Scraped) →
Some scraping code I did for fun last night. I used Nokogiri and Ruby to scrape this site for the names and photos. Take a look at the code if you want to mess around with it.

I wrote this is code b/c I didn’t want to click through the 100 pages of the top 100 movie characters site. I mean, it’s like 100 clicks. I just wanted to see the name and the pictures. If you feel like clicking through, check this out. If you don’t want to execute any code, I posted it on my blog here: http://blog.jayamster.com/

Includes Lorem Ipsum in short paragraphs, long paragraphs, short list items, and long list items. I do find myself breaking up lipsum into lists quite often. And if you’re not sure what Lorem Ipsum is, it’s the most frequently used placeholder text by graphic designers.
This is my new lipsum.com.

Using git within teams; What's your methodology?
I’ve done the PeepCode GIT screencast and read the PeepCode GIT book. I’ve read all over about GIT and have used it to collaborate with others. But I still think there’s a lacking base of knowledge on working with GIT in teams that are handling code in “close quarters.” Basically that means working with code that may overlap with other developers. Anyway, would...
Things
Needing to get organized I downloaded Things for Mac and iPhone, a GTD app. Did GTD Before, but I think each time I get back into it I get better.
